Gradually, it is not only the white pearls that we see a lot of when it comes to pearl necklaces.
It has become so modern to add a little extra life to your jewelery in the form of colors on e.g. pearls.

What is the difference between freshwater pearls and saltwater pearls?
The pearl necklaces we see today are most often with freshwater pearls, as it is a pearl that is very beautiful and comes in many different shapes and colors. In addition, the freshwater pearl is also a very cheap pearl.
Freshwater pearls:
Formed in a mussel shell in lakes and rivers and are mostly produced in slightly larger "groups" of pearls, where there are several pearls in the same mussel. Here there can be up to 50 pearls in the same clam. It takes approx. 4-6 years before the pearls are ready to be taken out of the shell and used for jewelry.
Saltwater pearls:
Formed in an oyster shell in the sea. Here it takes between 6 and 18 months and typically only a few pearls come here at a time. Saltwater pearls are more expensive than freshwater pearls as they take much longer to make. Saltwater pearls usually have a much rounder shape and a greater luster than freshwater pearls.
People often think that freshwater pearls are not real, but they are just as real as saltwater pearls, they are just manufactured in a different way.
